It's in 3 generations for me now too - my childhood (remember the tumps!) and then I used to go there with my niece and nephew in my twenties, and now I take my great niece and nephew there. Looking forward to spending more time there while researching the Real Port Talbot. Let me know if you're home at any time.Lynnehttp://www.lynnerees.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1451211466898351699.post-5690553975242592172011-10-18T12:53:44.182+01:002011-10-18T12:53:44.182+01:00Hi Lynne, I think people from Aberafan must have s...Hi Lynne, I think people from Aberafan must have some sort of genetic link to each other.

The first thing I do, even before seeing my Mam is drive along the beach. Stop the car somewhere, walk to the railings and just look out across the bay. I have to have that fix first.

In my mind, I am instantly transformed back to my childhood. The only time I was truly happy, was when I was playing on the beach. I would spend hours, especially if the tide was out, building sandcastles, with my hands (couldn't afford a bucket and spade. Every 30 minutes or so, I would have to retreat another 50 yards or so, and start again.

Even now, at the tender age of 54, I still build sandcastles when I come down...mind you I do have a 9 year old son to share it with, and even though he wasn't born in Port Talbot...the Beach is the first thing he wants to see, even before he sees Nana.

GaryGary Andrewsnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1451211466898351699.post-64574688933484918922011-06-07T09:34:13.104+01:002011-06-07T09:34:13.104+01:00Hi Andrea - thanks so much for commenting and sayi...Hi Andrea - thanks so much for commenting and saying hello.
